2025 Challenge Results

Here’s a final recap on how I did with all of my challenges in 2025.
A-Z
Titles: I completed 1 full round and was missing J, V, X & Z from round 2
Authors, Last Name: I missed Q, U, X & Y
Authors, First Name: I missed Q, W, X, Y & Z
Location
I struggled a bit with this one.
States: I got 37 out of the 52 I had set for this one (I included Washington DC and Puerto Rico with my states list.
Countries: I did a little better on this one and read from 17 out of 20 countries. I did not count the US as a country to read from since I live here. The bulk of the countries I read from were in Europe and Asia, so I’m making a concerted effort to read from African and South American countries this year.
Other
Diversity: My goal was for at least half of the books I read in 2025 to be diverse. I finished the year with 108 out of 204 books representing marginalized communities (race, identity, religion, disability, etc.), so 53%! This does not include books where side characters provide representation if the main characters do not.
Series: I did not set a specific goal with series, though I did make a BINGO square for finishing 20 series (3 or more books, I do not count duologies in my series goal). I am working on several LONG series (20 books or more) right now as well, and made progress in almost all of them. My progress on the In Death series by JD Robb (60+ books) has slowed because I’m in a section of the series that my libraries don’t have in audio on Libby, and its hard for me to sight read for long with my vision issues. The FBI Thriller series by Catherine Coulter is the same issue as well.
- Started: 16 series
- Progressed: 22 series
- Completed: 17 series
ARCs: I also did not set a specific goal for ARCS, I just wanted to make a dent in my huge backlog on Net Galley. I completed 67 ARCs this year, but received at least that many new ones as well, so my Net Galley ratio continues to hover at the 50% mark. I have currently completed 275 out of 555 ARCs received since 2016.
Total Books Read: My goal for 2025 was set at 150 books, with a stretch goal of 200. I finished the year with 204 books read, breaking 200 for the first time ever. I also took a couple of reading breaks during the year in September and December, so we’ll see what this year is going to bring.
