When looking for the challenges that I wanted to participate in this year, I didn’t find any year-long challenges centered around Banned Books, so I thought I would make one myself. If anyone else would like to join in, please do!

The “Rules”:

• Read any book that has been banned or challenged. You can find the current list published by Pen America here. But any book that has been challenged at any time counts.
• Any format
• Books count towards multiple challenges
• Fiction or Nonfiction; any age category

The “Levels”:

• 1-5 books Bronze
• 6-15 books Silver
• 16-30 books Gold
• 31- 60 books Titanium
• 61-100 books Platinum
• 101+ books Palladium

I am personally aiming for 25 banned books this year, so I fall into the Gold category. If you would like to join me, just let me know in the comments below how many banned books you are planning to read in 2026.
