Challenge Update

2026 Challenges

It’s that time of year again! Time to commit to the challenges that I will be participating in for 2026. I did not participate in any formal challenges last year, but have decided to do so this year. I will be sharing the results from my 2025 challenges in a separate post next month.

Goodreads/StoryGraph

As always, I set a goal for the total number of books I read each year. I try to increase the number each year unless I know there is a reason I won’t be able to read as much. This year I’m setting my goal at 200 books.

Audiobooks

Since audiobooks are my main source of reading, it seems only natural that I would join the official Audiobook Challenge hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer & That’s What I’m Talking About. I’ll be going for the Audibly Addicted category, which is 150+ audiobooks.

Alphabet

I am doing both the Alphabet Soup Challenge and the Alphabet Soup- Author Edition Challenge hosted by Escape with Dollycas into a Good Book every year. I will be trying to complete the alphabet twice for Book titles and once for Author’s names. I also kind of want to do a location A-Z challenge this year, since I’m not doing any other location challenges.

ARCs

I’ll be joining the NetGalley and Edelweiss Challenge hosted by Socrates Book Reviews in 2026. My goal for the challenge is to hit the Silver level of 25 books, but I’m also making a stretch goal of 50 books (Gold level).

Library

Since the majority of my books come from the library, it makes sense that I should join the Library Love Challenge hosted by Books of My Heart and Angel’s Book Nook. I’ll be going for the Library Card on Fire category of 60+ books.

Banned Books

I couldn’t find a year-long Banned Books challenge, so I started my own. Feel free to join me if you’d like. This year, I will be attempting to complete 25 books that have been banned or challenged.

Diverse Books

I also didn’t find a challenge involving diverse books that I wanted to join this year. There is a challenge on StoryGraph, but it’s a prompt based challenge and I am not a big fan of that style of challenge. So I’m just going to do my own thing for this one and set a goal to read at least 100 diverse books this year. When I say diverse I mean books written by BIPOC authors; Jewish, Muslim, Hindi or other non-Christian authors (especially if their religion plays a role in the story); LGBTQIA+ authors; and books by disabled, neurodivergent and/or chronically ill authors.
