2022 Reading Plans

After starting this year wanting to just ease back in to reading without any goals or firm plans in place, I decided to go ahead and make some reading goals, albeit manageable ones.

I decided to set my reading goal at 52 books for the year, that averages out to 1 book per week and should be quite doable. My other is goal is to always have a nonfiction personal read and a nonfiction work-related read on the go, as well as a re-read of anything, and at least 1 YA or MG fiction book and an adult fiction book.

As always, I will be reading in all formats (physical- paperback or hardback; digital; and audio). I currently have 4 physical books, 3 digital books and 3 audiobooks in progress. That’s pretty much my norm at the moment, so I anticipate finishing at a much higher number for the year, but if I hit another slump, it’s ok.

Right now, I’m generally reading a little each evening after work, and trying to read a lot more on the weekends. I do have my reading retreat planned for October this year as well, and hope to get through several books that weekend.

Overall, I’m still taking a casual approach to reading for the year. I’m not requesting anything new for review so that I can focus on getting through the pile of review books I currently have (they’re all digital, so it’s a metaphorical pile). I’m not stressing over a high reading goal, still not joining any challenges (ok, I did cave and join the Goodreads challenge), and will probably not do a ton of readathons (I’m undecided about the April Dewey’s and the Reverse Readathon, but I’m definitely doing the October Dewey’s).
