Healthy Living
So somewhere in the last 8 or so years, I decided that I wasn’t going to worry about trying to lose weight any longer. I was going to be happy, enjoy food, and live my life. And all that is great if I made healthier food choices most of the time and engaged in at least a small amount of physical activity on a regular basis. But I don’t, so it’s not exactly the healthiest way to live.
The good news is, my body did settle in at a set weight and rarely fluctuates from it, no matter how many servings I have at dinner or how often I each chips and cookies for lunch. But I’m tired all the time, completely out of shape, and hate the way I look in pictures (or virtual meetings).
It’s time for that mindset to change. I need to get more movement in my life (energy begets energy), and I need to eat to fuel my body so I can do the things that I enjoy. And I’d really like to have just the one chin, thank you very much.
So I joined Noom and I’m trying to make better choices. It helps that I love fruits and veggies. And I’m not afraid to try new things. But, I also tend to not like the “reduced fat,” “light,” or “calorie-free” versions of foods, so there are some things that I won’t compromise on.
Right now I’m working on getting my serving sizes down to a single serving instead of three, choosing as many fruit and veggies options as possible (this will be much easier when our new fridge finally arrives). I’m also working on getting more movement throughout the day, trying to get up and walk around the office regularly and make more trips up and down the stairs.
I haven’t seen any progress on the scale just yet (or in the number of chins I see in the camera), but I am starting to sleep better and I’m experiencing fewer headaches. So something must be working.
