Need for Naps

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to need naps in the afternoon. Of course while I’m working this isn’t possible, so I usually pass out not long after I get home from work for about an hour or more. On my days off, I usually nap around 2 or 3pm for a couple of hours.

I have a fairly flexible schedule, but not quite flexible enough to fit a nap in the middle of the workday. It would be really nice if I could though. I think people would be more productive in general if we could nap in the afternoon. But our culture thrives on the lack of sleep and sees napping as a sign of weakness, only for children, the elderly, or the ill.

What’s your take on the situation? Do you need naps? Do you take them? Would you if they were more normalized?
