Readathon

Recapping Dewey’s October 2022

Another readathon has come and gone…

First off, my hotel experience was infinitely better this time around. Not only did I have an amazing view of the (stormy) ocean, but my room was quiet, clean and comfortable as well. Check-in was smooth and friendly, they let me check in early, I got the room category I booked, and everything was as it should be.

Not having to deal with all of that was definitely a blessing, and allowed me to really focus on the books, you know, aside from getting distracted by the ocean right outside my window. I was also really, really relaxed, which meant I wanted to sleep more, so I only read about 15 hours, rather than the full 24. I ended my readathon at Hour 18 and went to sleep. I thought about getting up around Hour 22 and again at the end, but decided to just keep sleeping instead. I rarely get enough sleep any more.

I did successfully complete 2 books and made significant progress on a 3rd, so feel that I did what I set out to do.

Since I slept through the end of the readathon, I did not post an update with my closing survey, so here you go…

  1. How would you assess your reading overall? Great! I finished 2, started 3, and made progress in another
  2. Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it? Not really, though I did rotate between my 3 formats throughout
  3. What was your favorite snack? I didn’t really have a favorite, I enjoyed them all.

So that concludes another readathon weekend… see you again for the next one in April!
