Social Media Changes
I haven’t been super active on social media much over the last year or so. My Instagram presence has been practically non-existent, and my Twitter account is full of mostly retweets. I don’t use Facebook for the blog at all because I haven’t found a way to be anonymous there.
With all of the changes over at Twitter, and the launch of a bunch of alternatives, I’ve considered finding a different outlet to share my daily blog posts. But I tend to wait until a platform or technology is proven before I jump on board, and all of the alternatives have a bunch of issues that make me hesitant to make the leap away from Twitter. So I’ve decided to ride it out there for now, even though a lot of people have jumped ship and my feed is about 80% advertisements.
I would like to be a bit more active on Twitter again going forward. I want to not just share my daily blog post and assorted re-tweets, but also more of the blogs I read, what I’m currently reading, and maybe some life experiences as well. I haven’t looked for new people to follow in a while either, so I may focus on looking for some more bookish people to follow as well.
And then there’s Instagram. I’ve had several hit and miss attempts at Bookstagram posts, but I’ve always had a difficult time with lighting and space to take the photos. With my new set up, I am hoping that I will have an easier time doing that, so I plan on attempting some more Instagram posts going forward.
I may look more into some of the alternate platforms, but it will probably be a while before I take any leaps in that direction. And I may start a new Facebook profile and keep it locked down to control who can see what’s posted there.
