Filling My Time

Now that I am winding down the big projects, I still have to have ways to fill my time until I am working again. Of course reading is a big part of that, as is this blog, but because my attention span is pretty short, I need other things to bounce off of as well, so I’ve put together some activities to keep me occupied after I do my daily job search and applications.

Coloring

I have several “adult coloring books” with a variety of coloring pages, along with a supply of colored pencils and gel pens. While I also have a coloring app on my phone that I use daily, I figured some actual, physical coloring (where I get to pick the colors) would be a good thing too.

Crafting

While I wish that I had kept my paints and canvases that I donated to my old work, I do have some other crafting items to work on. I have a kit to build an otter out of mini Lego-like blocks, a kits to build a flower air purifier, and a diamond painting kit. I have a few small canvases and a little bit of paint, so I can do some painting as well, just not a lot.

Exercise

Since I have time on my hands, I figure it’s as good a time as any to get my body moving again. The weather is warming up a little, so my joints aren’t quite so stiff, and starting slow will help me get into a little bit better shape before the cold weather hits again in the Fall.

Writing

I used to write all the time when I was younger… poetry, stories, character backstories… I wanted to be an author. But then I gave up those dreams and put everything away… except my writing books, which have been sitting on my shelves for years. I found my old folders full of poetry when I was cleaning up everything and decided to edit some of it and see if I can get some published. And maybe I’ll start a book. We’ll see.

There may be some other things I add in to fill my time as well. We’ll call it practice for retirement.
