Friday Memes: 2/2/24
I talked about doing more memes again, and here we go! There are several Friday memes floating around the book blogosphere and I have decided to join back in with most of them.
First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Gilion @ Rose City Reader
How it works: Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

The Friday 56 was started by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. Freda is currently taking a break from hosting, so in the interim it is being hosted by Anne @ My Head is Full of Books.
How it works:
The second I close my eyes, the memories play, and I find myself back at the beginning.
“Let’s focus,” James says, looking out through the opening of the fort for signs of trespassers. “We need to figure out what the aliens have done with the others they kidnapped.”
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy reintroduced the hop with Jennifer’s approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
What was the last book you read in one sitting? (submitted by Deb @ Readerbuzz)
Answer:
I honestly can’t remember the last book I read in one sitting. With my attention span, I am generally not able to just sit and read for hours (let alone read the same book for that time). I think it would have been a Harlequin Presents book back when I was in my late 20’s, early 30’s. They were pretty short and I seem to remember getting through those in one day, but probably not one sitting.
I love both of those quotes. And now I want to know more about the book and the author. Have a delightful weekend.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I’m really enjoying it.
Intriguing quotes! Have a great weekend 😊
Thank you! You too!
I’ve been eyeing the this one audiobook. I might have to try it.
Go for it!
I really like the way the opening sets up the story. And your second teaser intrigues me even more! I will have to look for You’ve Reached Sam.
It’s been so long since I sat and read a regular novel straight through. Your mention of reading Harlequin Presents does take me back though. Long days camping with my parents and brother when I was a teen/young college student and I would spend the days reading Harlequin Intrigues and thrillers. I did some hiking, but mostly I’d find a comfy spot among the trees and read for hours.
I hope you have a great weekend!
Enjoy your weekend!
