Here We Go
I want to be optimistic about what is going to happen over the next four years. I want to believe that sanity will prevail and that we can somehow prevent that man and his minions from destroying our country. But based on past experience and the descent into power hungry madness that we have witnessed, I think the worst is coming. And it’s going to be up to all of us to save ourselves, our values, and our communities.
I feel trapped right now, and I’m not able to do much by way of resistance, but I will do what I can. I will use my social media and blog to elevate voices. I will not support businesses that support the new regime. I would prefer to move to a safer location than the red county in Oregon where I currently live, but without a job I am at the mercy of my Trump-supporting brother, at least until I can find work and save some money.
The reality is that I’m scared. I don’t know if I have what it takes to fight what’s coming, but I’m determined to do it. As a Bi-sexual woman, my rights are under attack. As a caring, empathetic human, I care about those whose rights are also under attack. As an American who was once proud of my country, I know that our country’s very existence is at stake.
So let’s get the resistance started. I’m looking for virtual and local allies to help. And I want to get into fighting shape (literally). And you know I’ll be screaming about books by marginalized authors.
