April 2025 Wrap Up
Life
I don’t even know what to say about the past month. It was another good reading month, but I find myself escaping into a book most days. I am also trying to get through as many books as possible in case either of my libraries has to suspend digital services (which will break my heart in two).
As for everything else, I’m just getting through day by day. I was encouraged by the results of Canada’s elections after being discouraged by the Supreme Court decision on Trans women in the UK. While I obviously feel the weight of everything that is happening in the US most profoundly, seeing what is happening around the world alternately gives me hope or increases my stress levels. Every day continues to be a challenge.
I’m working on some long-term projects right now for my future, which I’ll talk about next month. But sometimes I feel like there isn’t a point in planning even a year ahead right now. Then I remind myself that the planning itself is still a form of resistance. It’s just really disappointing that the people who are supposed to be representing us are only focusing on themselves and their interests.

That looks like a very good reading month! I still need to get round to Boyfriend Material and A Lady for a Duke — I’ve enjoyed some of Alexis Hall’s work, but I’m so far behind on reading more! I loved Mortal Follies, which I read recently.
Hope you enjoy the new books you’ve got lined up!
I haven’t read Mortal Follies yet, but am looking forward to it.
You have so many great books on here!
That’s a great reading month. My heart will also break if we lose digital services. We are trying to get through these horrible times, survive and resist.

Yay for falling into good books. Virtual hugs for all the shit news around the world. I’m in the U.S., so nothing good to report from here 🙁 Take care of you, and try to enjoy what you can.
