Determining My 2023 TBR

Earlier I broke down my goals for reading in 2023 and the challenges that I am participating in, today I want to share how I’m putting together my TBR.

As far as the reviews are concerned, I am working from both ends of my list. I am choosing the oldest outstanding eARC each month, and then adding 2-3 other titles from the newer eARCs on the list. This fills in the first 4 spots on my TBR

Next, I look at my 100 books spreadsheet and choose a couple of Titles. Then I decide which series I’m going to focus on and add the next book in the series. The next thing I add is whichever book I am focusing on for work and then finally, a title that I want to re-read.

Because I like nice round numbers, I’ll throw in an extra book or two to make it to 10 each month, especially if a title satisfies more than one category. For instance, here is how I put together January’s TBR:

Review: It Started With Goodbye
Review: Salt & Sugar
Review: The Right Side of Reckless
Review: Counting Down With You
100 Books: It Started with Goodbye
100 Books: Stormchaser
Series: Stormchaser
Work: Start with Why
Re-read: Beautiful Bastard
Extra: The Dating Playbook
Extra: Beyond Behaviors
Extra: Don’t Look Now

There were 2 books that overlapped 2 different categories, so I added 2 additional extra books at the end to bring my TBR to 10. Ideally, I’ll read more than 10 books in January, but because I can be a mood reader, I like to leave a little bit of wiggle room as well.
