Diversity Spotlight~ Seeking Sapphic Recs
Over the past year, I have committed to diversifying my reading beyond the best sellers, and to seek out more diverse authors and storylines. I am focusing on including more Authors of Color, more stories surrounding a variety of cultures and religions, even more LGBTQ+ stories, and stories featuring characters with disabilities. Several times throughout each month, I’ll be featuring books or authors highlighting different experiences each time.
While I read a lot of LGBTQ+, I feel like I don’t have a lot of Sapphic reads. Before I started questioning my sexuality, back in the days I thought I was straight, they made me uncomfortable. It was only after I realized that I’m Bi, that I understood why… these stories were challenging my view and understanding of myself. Now that I have embraced who I really am, I have started to seek out more stories with Bi or Lesbian leads, but I still feel like my TBR is lacking.
Here are some of the stories I have read or are currently on my TBR:
You Should See Me in a Crown The Henna Wars The Midnight Lie The Falling in Love Montage Cinderella is Dead
Honey Girl She Drives Me Crazy One Last Stop Perfect on Paper When Tara Met Farah
We Are Okay Hairpin Curves The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics A Little Light Mischief The Princess and the Fangirl
Hopes and Dreams The Secret Ingredient Music From Another World Queens of Geek Juliet Takes a Breath
What’s missing? What are some of your favorite Sapphic reads?
