I’m jumping back into memes this year, because I always had a lot of fun with them before I tried to get all serious. Each Friday I will be linking up with a few different memes. Here we go:
First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Rose City Reader and First Line Friday hosted by Reading is My Superpower
How it works: Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

I will be using the same book each week for both of these prompts. This week’s book is: The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman.
First Line:
At dawn in an outlying district of Warsaw, sunlight swarmed around the trunks of blooming linden trees and crept up the white walls of a 1930s stucco and glass villa where the zoo director and his wife slept in a bed crafted from white birch, a pale wood used in canoes, tongue depressors, and Windsor chairs.

A strange new continent, half coral reef, half planetarium, veered into view as she entered a cluttered shop redolent with the odors of fabric, glue, paint, sweat, and cooking oatmeal.

If you could revisit one of your past reviews, what would you change, and why?
My answer:
My reviews are chaotic and all vibes. I don’t think I would change any of them because they are how I was feeling at the time.
It’s amazing to see how much has changed over the years- my writing style as well as my theme.. I’m slowly going back through my older reviews, especially now that my theme has changed and some of the headers need a refresh.
What a beautiful first line. — When I saw the author’s name I immediately thought of her poetry book “Jaguar of Sweet Laughter.” Such an amazing way with words.
