Friday Memes~ 9/8/23

I talked about doing more memes again, and here we go! There are several Friday memes floating around the book blogosphere and I have decided to join back in with most of them.

First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Gilion @ Rose City Reader

How it works:  Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

The Friday 56 hosted by Freda @ Freda’s Voice

How it works:

Grab a book, any book
*Turn to Page 56 or 56% in your Ereader
(If you want to improvise, go ahead!)
*Find a snippet, but no spoilers!
*Post it to your blog or Instagram and add your url to the Linky.
I will be using the same book each week for both of these prompts. This week’s book is The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman.
Beginning:
Irene passed the mop across the stone floor in smooth, careful strokes, idly admiring the gleam of wet flagstones in the lanternlight.
56:

There was a crash from the street and the sound of screaming. She turned to look at the window. Some sort of huge wind was blowing the smog outside into long grey veils, ripping through the sky like claws.

Next up is Book Blogger Hop hosted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer.
About Book Blogger Hop:
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy reintroduced the hop with Jennifer’s approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
This week’s prompt:

Do you agree that libraries should ban books? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Answer:

Libraries should not ban books, full stop. People have the right to read what they want to read and everyone deserves to have a voice.

I do, however, believe that some books should not be published, because people should not profit from their atrocities.
