Getting Ready for Dewey’s Reverse Readathon July 2024
The Reverse Readathon is my favorite of the 3 Dewey’s 24-hour readathons that happen throughout the year. (Yes, I know I’ve already said this multiple times, but it bears repeating). My current wonky sleep schedule should actually play right into this format as well.
For me, living on the west coast of the US, starting time is 5pm on Friday. Unfortunately I will be acting as chauffeur at that time, so will not be starting out as strong as I usually prefer. I have a kickoff graphic prepared, but since I don’t have cell service any more, will have to find somewhere with Wi-Fi in order to post it at 5 (I won’t be home until after 6pm, so it doesn’t make sense to post it then). The library near where my brother works closes at 2pm and their Wi-Fi is not accessible from the parking lot, so that won’t work (I can’t tell you how much I miss my old library system in Washington!). I do have to pass by the house between dropping off my sister-in-law and picking up my brother, so I could go slightly out of the way and pull in the driveway long enough to use our Wi-Fi, but that feels kind of silly. It would only take about 2 minutes though, so I might do it, we’ll see.
I’ll be picking up some snacks on Friday morning during our usual shopping trip. I cashed in my lottery scratchers that I’d been holding on to and have $15. It won’t get me much, but at least I’ll have something. And I’ll have my regular weekly shopping as well, though I hate spending other people’s money.
This time around I’m not setting a specific TBR for the readathon and will be continuing with the regular reading list. I think I’ll be able to finish about 5 of my current reads during the event, maybe more. Or maybe less depending on how much I end up sleeping (if any).
I’m planning to post every hour on socials and am doing a personal Bingo board again. I’ll also be doing a running post during the event that I will be updating with my progress.
