My Official Reverse Readathon Post
I decided to do a post that I would update throughout the readathon with books completed, snacks eaten, thoughts, insights, whatever. I will be updating this post throughout the readathon, so if you’re reading it early in the event, please stop back by and check out the post for updates as the event progresses. My goal is to post every 3-4 hours, but if I get really caught up in a book (or fall asleep) that might alter things a bit. I will also have a separate wrap up post that will go live Monday.
So without further ado, here we go!
Starting Book: Crucial Conversations
Local Start Time: 5pm
Reading Location: Ashland, Oregon
Opening Survey!
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Ashland, Oregon
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? That’s hard to say, I’m looking forward to completing a few books that I’ve been reading for work, but as far as for work… if I can get to Untouchable by Jayne Ann Krentz I’ll be really happy
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? A slice of Devil Dog cake (chocolate cake with whipped cream and maraschino cherries). My local bakery never has it, but I found it where I’m staying.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I live in western Oregon and am a mid-level manager for a non-profit. I recently decided to start making my readathons something even more grand, so I have started traveling to different areas of Oregon and staying in a hotel for the event. This time around it’s Ashford in southern Oregon, known for it’s Shakespeare Festival.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? This time I’m staying in a hotel rather than trying to ignore the distractions at home. And I have more healthier snack options.

Irritated again and trying to remind myself to let it go. The hour started at 3am. I slept for maybe an hour and a half, I’m not sure, because I feel like I was really just tossing and turning. I woke up to go to the bathroom and then the toilet kept running (it’s fixed itself now), so I couldn’t go back to sleep, so I just started reading again. I’ll probably try to sleep again in a bit, but I’m awake for now.

Closing Survey!
-
- How would you assess your reading overall? My reading was great. I completed 3 books that I’ve been working on and made significant progress 3 others.
- Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it? For the most part yes. My strategy was to rotate between formats and that is pretty much what I did.
- What was your favorite snack? A Chocolate-covered Cream Puff
- Wanna volunteer for our next event? Stay tuned for the recap post! I have volunteered in the past, but find I do better, just as a participant.
I am with you on switching it up and tend to favor audio later too—and while I get in a walk for exercise (tomorrow). About to skip out on a few hours of the readathon now. Happy with my progress but want to prioritize sleep.
