Planning 2023~ Healthy Living
This week, I’m looking at my health plans for the new year. As I’m getting older, I am definitely noticing the effects on my body, and want to do what I can to minimize them, and hopefully remain active well into my late years. I’ve broken my plans/goals for this area into 4 categories below.
Diet
While I have no intention of “going on a diet”, I do need to clean up my eating. I plan to add more veggies and fruit and less junk food. I find that I also work better on a more grazing style of eating, rather than the traditional 3 meals a day, so am planning on taking a more healthy, six small “meals” a day route to eating in 2023.
Activity
I spend way too much time sitting at a desk, or sitting on my bed reading or working on my laptop. This year I need to be more intentional about getting movement into my life. I want to incorporate more walks, dancing, and yoga on a regular basis. And eventually some more formal workouts as well. Two of the card decks I’ll be working on this year will help with this goal, as one is for yoga and the other is body weight exercises.
Weight-Loss
While the primary goal is getting more healthy and not losing a certain amount of weight, there is a weight-loss component to becoming healthy this year. If you buy into “BMI as the definition of healthy weight school,” I am far from a healthy weight and fall into the Obesity III zone. I know that making the above changes to my eating and adding in more activity will naturally help me to drop some poundage, but I’m not making that my ultimate goal for the year.
Health
I am terrible about taking care of my regular health as well. I’m overdue for new glasses (and I need them), as well as a well-woman checkup, so I need to make sure that I put these appointments into play this year.
