Preparing for Travel
This weekend my time is devoted to getting ready for my work trip that leads into my birthday trip. And since even my work trip is essentially fun, my preparations are a little different than they would be for a strictly working trip (which is what my last several trips have been).
The biggest difference this time around is that since I’m packing for a longer trip, I need more room! Usually I take my smaller suitcase for my clothes, pillow & blanket. My toiletries and shoes (if I need a second pair) are then carried in a tote bag. This time I’m taking a bag big enough for 6 days worth of clothes (with an extra outfit for the work event), workout gear, my swimsuit, at least 3 pairs of shoes, toiletries, and my pillow & blanket. (And books) So the only things that will be packed separately are hotel snacks and my laptop and art supplies (though they might fit in the big suitcase too). At least I’ll have less trips loading and unloading the car (I rarely use the rolling luggage racks).
Also on my prep list this weekend is cutting my hair and giving myself a mani/pedi. Since this will be a celebration event for work, I want to look pretty. And then there’s the car stuff, since I’m driving… checking the fluids, checking the tires, getting gas, etc. And of course the chores- laundry, cleaning up so I come back to a clean living space, all that good stuff.
But the main prep for my trip is just getting my mindset into the idea of spending some time on my own, reflecting on life and my path. And I am so ready for it!
