Readathon Recap April 2022

April’s readathon is now over. **Sigh**

So how did I do with my readathon goals?

  1. Be awake for kickoff (5am in my time zone)- check! I woke up just before 5am and started reading right away
  2. Read for more hours than I sleep (because I know I’ll nap)- check! I slept for 6 1/2 hours and read for 16 hours. (Thank you audio books!) The other 1 1/2 hours were spent on meal prep, bathroom trips and whatever.
  3. Be awake for the closing (also 5am for me)- no check here. I was awake briefly at 4:45 when my alarm went off, but I just couldn’t keep my eyes open.
  4. Read only from books I’m enjoying- check! I finished 2 audio books and made progress on a re-read and a review books that I’m working on.
  5. Don’t pressure myself to meet a bunch of goals- check! I kept things light and fun. I didn’t make any rules, posted to social media when I felt like it, snacked when I felt like (and chose mostly from the healthy side of things), allowed myself to nap when I needed it, and just basically had an all around good day.

I met 4 out of 5 goals and finished 2 books, so I would say this was a hugely successful readathon.

Next up should be the Reverse Readathon in July or August (my favorite!), but I haven’t seen dates posted for it yet. What is the reverse readathon and why is it my favorite, you ask? The reverse readathon flips the start/end times by 12 hours so that people around the world have better times. For me this means the readathon starts at 5pm on Friday and goes through 5pm on Saturday. I do much better with this one since I tend to be a night owl anyway. (Especially if I take the day off work on Friday, to prep and rest up).
