Susannah Ramos has always loved the water. A swimmer whose early talent made her a world champion, Susannah was poised for greatness in a sport that demands so much of its young. But an inexplicable slowdown has put her dream in jeopardy, and Susannah is fighting to keep her career afloat when two important people enter her life: a new coach with a revolutionary training strategy, and a charming fellow swimmer named Harry Matthews. As Susannah…

Susannah and Harry were both such relatable characters and made this a very moving story.

Susannah is so focused on her swimming and her goal to get to the Olympics, that she pushes everything aside, until she meets Harry and he helps her to open up. Her growth throughout the story is realistic as she starts to challenge all of her own beliefs.

Harry’s struggles broke my heart. He and Susannah are so good for each other in so many ways, but even that can’t change what he has to deal with on a daily basis. I am so happy the author handled this story line the way she did, it may not have been the fun, dreamy resolution, but it was real and truthful.

As far as side characters, I loved that both Susannah and Harry had such supportive families. They were there for their kids to support them through the good and the bad. Tucker and Amber were also amazing friends. And I really liked Beth as a coach. Jessa and Dave were not my favorite people.

I really liked the way the author chose to end the book. This story doesn’t have the typical “happy ever after,” but it does end with hope. And I believe that the happy ever after is still to come.
