Ashanti Wright is thrilled over the success of her doggie daycare, Barkingham Palace. But handling the business and taking care of her teen twin sisters is a lot. And now that the antics of her adorable French bulldog and poodle bestie are blowing up on social media, things are even more chaotic than usual. And they only get worse when the world’s worst dog hater shows up. Thad Sims is not a dog person. He’s…

If you love dogs, this book should be on your radar.

Ashanti runs a doggy daycare/boarding facility and has launched a line of dog treats named after her beloved Frenchie, Duchess. She’s driven, but a bit overwhelmed by the success of her company, needing to find a larger facility, and taking care of her teenage twin sisters. Add in the interference of her late father’s sister who wants custody of the twins, and she is at her wits end when she meets Thad, the grandson of her favorite client.

Thad has a lot on his own plate with trying to renovate an older building to open a new business, becoming the caregiver for his grandmother’s spoiled poodle, Puddin’, and emails from someone claiming to be a relative. And he doesn’t even like dogs.

Duchess and Puddin’ are adorable and love each other. A viral video of them canoodling at the daycare brings a ton of attention to Ashanti’s business and forces her to spend a lot of time with Thad. Neither of them are too happy about it to begin with, aside from the fact that they are attracted to each other.

I loved the dogs and their relationship with each other and their owners. I also liked the growth that both Ashanti and Thad experienced as they navigated their complicated lives, opened themselves up to each other, and allowed a relationship to grow.

There are some obstacles that I think were not really resolved in the end, mostly family issues, but as the series is continuing, we may get to see those storylines in the background of future stories in the series. Or we might not and it’s up to us to figure out how they resolved.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next story.
