Solitude
While the human brain is wired for connection, sometimes you just need a little alone time. Especially if you are a big time introvert like me. That time in solitude can help to recharge the batteries and prepare you to go back out into the world.
I spent 2 days in solitude for my birthday, mostly. I did communicate with people from work via video chat to open gifts and I spoke to my mom on the phone for a few minutes, but other than that it was just me in the hotel room. Unfortunately, the hotel where I was staying had pretty thin walls, so I could hear everything going on in the rooms and hallway around me, so that took away from the illusion of solitude a bit. But I was still able to recharge and do some future planning.
I still want some 100% alone time, which I’m hoping I’ll get either on next weekend’s trip or my upcoming trip to the coast in October, but we’ll see.
