Spreading Kindness

So many people are in a hurry, overworked, stressed, maybe even just plain selfish. They are so focused on the next thing on their never-ending to do list that they forget sometimes that they are dealing with other people, actual humans with feelings. They rush, are rude or abrupt, push their way through crowds, or stare, focused into their phones. And in the process they forget one of the most important lessons we were taught as children… be kind.

It’s really so simple and doesn’t take a whole lot of time to be kind to someone else. Smile, hold the door open, let them know they dropped something, give them a quarter when they can’t find the change. I do it all the time, even if I’m busy, even if I’m in a hurry, because I would hope that someone would do the same for me.

I find it so much easier to just be kind to other people. And it makes me feel better about my day… not because I did a good thing, but because someone else’s day was made a little easier. I even feel better when I see someone else spreading kindness as well. So as you rush about your day today, take a moment to be kind to others… you won’t regret it.
