At the start of 2021, when I found myself with some discretional funds, I jumped on the subscription box wagon. Throughout the year, I tried out several different boxes and found that some were a lot of fun, and others not very reputable. And the website Cratejoy made it easy to keep track of most of them!

This year, I have shifted my focus to travel, and have decided to move the money that I was spending on subscription boxes into my travel fund, so I’ve canceled almost all of the boxes that I was receiving. The only things I haven’t canceled… my Persona supplements, my Nadine West clothing assortment, and my Book Drop romance book.  Here’s why I kept each one:

I talked about Persona yesterday, so I won’t go into everything again. I’ll just say that I kept this one because it neatly fits into my new healthy lifestyle.

Nadine West is still on my list because when I started, I needed a complete clothing overhaul. I want to at least continue through spring in order to have a fully updated wardrobe for each season. This assortment has really helped me to step out of my comfort zone and try some new styles. I have gone down from 2 shipments per month to just one, and have gotten a little pickier about what I’m keeping.

Finally is my Book Drop. I get one book per month from an independent book store. I chose the “Bubbles” option which is a romance book (they have other options for different genres). This keeps me getting fresh reads… and since it’s just the book and not a lot of swag, there is nothing going to waste.

Will I ever restart some of my other subscription boxes, or pick up something new? Maybe. I enjoyed receiving them while I did, my priorities have just changed for the moment.
