Time to Get Moving

After months of exhaustion and an increasing amount of joint and back pain, I really need to get back to some type of daily movement.

I used to walk several miles a day, and now I can barely stand for 15 minutes to wash the dishes without my back aching. It’s made looking for a job even harder, because I don’t think I can stand handle the physical aspects of a retail job again. (Not that I really want to go back into retail ever again, but there aren’t a whole lot of options).

So I need to get some regular movement in my life again, just to feel better. If I lose some weight along the way, great, but weight loss is not the point, being pain free is. Or at least pain reduced.

Stretching and Yoga are the basics I’m starting out with. I don’t have access to a pool or I would incorporate some swimming. I’m not a strong swimmer, but it’s easier on the joints than anything else. Next will be some short walks until I can build up some strength and am not in so much pain. And some bodyweight strength exercises.

Ultimately, I’d like to get back to longer walks, dancing and kickboxing, but I have a long way to go to get back there again.
