Top Ten Tuesday~ Desert Island Books
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This has always been one of my favorite linkups and I knew I had to include it in my weekly posting schedule.
This week’s topic is books you’d want to have with you on a desert island. I thought about a few different ways that I could approach this post, and decided to just go straight forward. Here are a few old favorites, some new titles I really want to read, and a few nonfiction titles to help me survive.
Old Favorites
Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren~ Because I love it and it’s fun, and I could read it over and over again.
I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman~ I found myself in the pages of this book and saw my thoughts reflected back to me on the page. I think it would be comforting to have this book with me.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline~ 80’s nostalgia from my teen years to keep me company
TBR Titles
Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson~ for the atmosphere
The Dream Trilogy by Nora Roberts~ I own the hardback edition of the trilogy in one book, so it’s 3 books in 1, plus a heavy hardback that could be used as a weapon or tool if needed (though only if there was no other option).
The Trouble With Hating You by Sajni Patel~ This one seems like it will be a ton of fun and of a pace similar to Josh & Hazel, so I think it would be fun to have and a great distraction.
Grimm’s Fairy Tales by Jacob, Wilhelm & Ludwig Grimm~ It’s a larger book that should take a while to get through and the stories could all be read separately.
Nonfiction
A Field Guide to Medicinal Plants and Herbs by Steven Foster~ Helpful in determining what plants could be helpful or harmful
The Skills of Wilderness Survival by US Department of the Army~ Everything I need to know on how to build a shelter, to how to find food.
Survival by Simon F~ I think the title sums it up nicely

I like that you picked some practical books, too!

I really think those of you who thought of survival books were very smart! I wouldn’t last very long but would die happy with my books, lol. My link is here: https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2021/07/ttt-stranded-on-desert-island.html
