Top Ten Tuesday~ Most Recent Reads
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This has always been one of my favorite linkups and I knew I had to include it in my weekly posting schedule.
This week’s topic is your 10 most recent reads. 100% straight forward and easy topic. Of course the way that I’ve been in a reading slump lately, I don’t know if I could call some of my last 10 books recent. Here are my last 10 reads, starting with the most recent.
The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate:
Bob sets out on a dangerous journey in search of his long-lost sister with the help of his two best friends, Ivan and Ruby. As a hurricane approaches and time is running out, Bob finds courage he never knew he had and learns the true meaning of friendship and family.
Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds:
An ode to Put the Damn Guns Down, this is New York Times bestseller Jason Reynolds’s fiercely stunning novel that takes place in sixty potent seconds—the time it takes a kid to decide whether or not he’s going to murder the guy who killed his brother.
The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert:
Marva Sheridan was born ready for this day. She’s always been driven to make a difference in the world, and what better way than to vote in her first election?
Duke Crenshaw is so done with this election. He just wants to get voting over with so he can prepare for his band’s first paying gig tonight. Only problem? Duke can’t vote.
Nothing Like I Imagined by Mindy Kaling:
In this hilarious collection, Mindy Kaling considers her new role as single mom, the perks of not having a husband, and her struggle with social anxiety. In between, the beloved actress, writer, and Hollywood power-bruncher gets Kanye West’d at her best friend’s birthday, thwarts an “only in LA” crime, and learns what it means to have it all.
Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella:
When twenty-eight-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she’s in for a big surprise. Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton. Having survived a car accident—in a Mercedes no less—Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she’s about to find out just how much things have changed.
Forgiven by Garrett Leigh:
When Mia Amour returns to England to open a florist shop, all she wants to do is put her lousy ex behind her and never look back. But getting a fresh start is easier said than done when her first love, the boy who once broke her teenage heart, strolls back into her life. He’s every bit as sexy as she remembers, and the urge to melt back into his arms almost makes her forget how devastated she was when he took off without a word. Almost.
{Redacted Re-read}: I re-read a book by an author I no longer promote, so am not counting it towards the 10.
Every Single Lie by Rachel Vincent:
Nobody in Beckett’s life seems to be telling the whole story. Her boyfriend Jake keeps hiding texts and might be cheating on her. Her father lied about losing his job before his shocking death. And everyone in school seems to be whispering about her and her family behind her back.
Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts:
With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken… A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape—by a long-awaited kiss. Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted—until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle. Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself—and their friendship—to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves…
Among the Beasts & Briars by Ashley Poston:
Cerys is safe in the kingdom of Aloriya.
Here there are no droughts, disease, or famine, and peace is everlasting. It has been this way for hundreds of years, since the first king made a bargain with the Lady who ruled the forest that borders the kingdom. But as Aloriya prospered, the woods grew dark, cursed, and forbidden. Cerys knows this all too well: when she was young, she barely escaped as the woods killed her friends and her mother. Now Cerys carries a small bit of the curse—the magic—in her blood, a reminder of the day she lost everything. The most danger she faces now, as a gardener’s daughter, is the annoying fox who stalks the royal gardens and won’t leave her alone.
Finding Our Forever by Brenda Novak:
The search for her birth mother brought Cora Kelly to the New Horizons Boys’ Ranch. Getting a job there was easy enough, but confiding in the ranch’s owner that she’s really her daughter? That task is daunting. Especially with Elijah Turner watching her every move.

Remember Me? sure sounds good.

It was fun. I can’t imagine losing 3 years of my life!
THE ONE AND ONLY BOB is a fun one. I didn’t like it as much as IVAN, but it’s still a great read. Funny, sweet, exciting, etc.—and I don’t usually enjoy animal-narrated books!
Happy TTT!

I definitely agree that Ivan was better, but Bob was really good too!
I’ve also been in a bit of a reading slump recently so you are definitely not alone.

I feel like this one is never going to end! I’m hoping that doing some light, short books will help… so far, so good.
I read the book before Shadow Spell and really enjoyed it – love the idea of magic in Ireland! Yet another series I need to finish one day.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I have so many unfinished series! Why is it so hard to finish a series??
Oh I’ll definitely have to check out your review for Among the Beasts & Briars. I’ve been eyeing that book and have been debating on whether I should read it or not. Great list!
I don’t think I reviewed this one… but I really enjoyed it!
Ooh Every Single Lie sounds good, and I haven’t read Rachel Vincent in a while.
It kept me guessing throughout the book. Every time I thought I had the mother figured out, I would be proven wrong.
Long Way Down sounds like a book I’d like, must check it out. Happy reading, my TTT https://readwithstefani.com/my-ten-most-recent-reads/
It’s short and quick and really, really good.
