Trying Something New~ Beyond Body

This year I am tackling a lot of projects working on both my physical and mental health. I’m trying a lot of new things and will be sharing some of them with all of you. One of the first things that I’m trying is the personalized Beyond Body book available here.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored post, and I am not being compensated in any way for this post and will receive no credit if you make a purchase from the site. I purchased the book with my own money. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The premise is that you take a quiz, answering questions about your lifestyle, goals, and preferences, then they create a personalized book with tips, exercises and a 28-day menu plan geared just for you. You have the option to purchase a membership to their App and get a free digital version of the book and/or a discounted physical copy. I opted to pay for one month on the app and purchased the physical book, as this came out to be the least expensive option.

I was really excited to get a personalized menu plan, since a lot of the time I’m not super fond of what’s recommended in other programs, but it’s not 100% personalized to my preferences. I indicated that I prefer red meat over poultry and do not like soy, but there is no beef (or other red meat) in my menu plan at all. And lots of chicken and turkey… there’s also tofu and green beans, both of which I indicated I did not eat, so either there was a glitch in my book, or it’s not truly personalized. I will say that I was able to put together my own menu based on the suggestions and so far it seems to be working for me. I’m enjoying the food, eating more fruits, veg & whole grains, eating fewer calories, but not feeling like I’m starving.

As for the workout plan, it’s actually pretty good. There are stretches, body weight workouts, and Low-intensity cardio, which is perfect for my age and current fitness level.

There are other aspects of the book that are good as well. There is a lot of information included as to the “whys” for how the plan is set up, as well as recommendations for ensuring enough sleep and maintaining stress levels.

Because I have an interest in health and fitness, I have read a lot on the topic, so there was nothing earth-shatteringly new for me here. But the topics were presented in interesting and unique ways, so I didn’t feel like I was reading the same thing I already knew again.

I’m glad that I decided to invest in this, even if it’s not really personalized for me.
