Review~ Without a Clue

Without a Clue
A laugh-out-loud rom-com wrapped in a whodunit, this high-seas adventure proves that sometimes the best love stories start with a little murder. Penelope Mae Dupont has one superpower: keeping her cool. Which is essential when you're the personal assistant to renowned mystery author Hugh Griffin. But when Pip organizes a luxury book cruise featuring The Fabulous Seven—a glittering cast of seven bestselling authors known for both their brilliance and their drama—her trademark composure starts slipping. One…

This story dumps you right into action without any buildup or explanation, before stepping back to start filling in the gaps. And then continues to build with over-the-top actions all the way through to the end. And I loved it!

With an eccentric cast of characters and a burgeoning romance, there was a lot to enjoy.

Pip is efficient and organized, and utterly devoted to her boss. So when he turns up dead on the first morning of their writer’s cruise, she is understandably a bit flustered. While trying to keep everything running smoothly for the readers who came on the cruise, get all of the remaining authors to their respective panels, and trying to figure out who killed Hugh, she has a lot on her plate. Luckily Nash is there to help as well as offer protection, especially after a second murder.

After discovering that all of her friends have motives for the murders, Pip doesn’t know who to trust, especially when everyone’s behavior gets more erratic. Pip doesn’t want to believe someone she cares about could be guilty, but soon the clues start leading her to the only possibly suspect.

I loved all of the antics of the various writers. Each of them had so many layers to their stories. And I enjoyed Pips blossoming romance with Nash.

I did predict quite early in the story who the culprit was, as well as the true motive. But it was still fun going through the investigations with Pip and Nash.

This was my first audiobook narrated by Karissa Vacker, but I really enjoyed her narration.
