Friday Memes~ 4/19/24
I talked about doing more memes again, and here we go! There are several Friday memes floating around the book blogosphere and I have decided to join back in with most of them.
First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Gilion @ Rose City Reader
How it works: Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

The Friday 56 was started by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. Freda is currently taking a break from hosting, so in the interim it is being hosted by Anne @ My Head is Full of Books.
How it works:
How do I know it’s love? Because I’ve already thrown up twice, and I haven’t even asked him out yet.
We stayed up all night watching rom-coms in her room until I felt normal again.
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy reintroduced the hop with Jennifer’s approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
- Do you think contemporary book covers lack originality? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Answer:
Not at all. I mean there are covers in any genre that may not be as creative as others, but there are some beautiful, original covers out there. And a lot of those covers make me want to buy the book.
That opening made me laugh out loud. I was watching something recently where the person described love in a similar fashion and it made me think of that. The second excerpt though is one I can definitely relate to. Watching (or even reading) rom-coms can help calm me down and feel normal again.
I don’t really think contemporary covers lack originality either–at least not compared to covers from books long ago. I do think there are certain trends that pop up frequently, especially within genres, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.
I hope you have a great weekend!
99 Boyfriends? Wow. What a busy book. Ha!
That book sounds interesting. The quotes seemed light and amusing.
I agree that there are some beautiful covers out there!
Have a great weekend!
