How I Plan My Posts

Today I thought I would share how I plan out my posts for each month. I’ve changed the way I do things a few times over the years that I have been blogging, but have found that my current method works really well.
Structure is important to me (I mean, I am neurodivergent, so no surprise there), so certain posts always go up on certain days. This makes sense when it comes to weekly memes, but I also use it for the general overall set up of my planning.
To start the year, I’ve created a calendar spreadsheet and have filled in all of the memes and regularly monthly posts. This includes my monthly TBR and monthly recap, which I post on the 1st and 2nd each month, plus weekly memes on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Each month I’ll add the topics for Top Ten Tuesday and Bookish Blog Hop so that I have them available.
I’ve designated Mondays as the day for discussion posts, and Wednesdays are for reviews. This leaves Thursdays and Sundays open for additional discussions or reviews as needed. Thursdays will also be used for any updates for challenges or projects throughout the year.
During the previous month, I think about what topics I want to include as discussions for the next month and add them in. If a timely topic crops up, I’ll add that to an overflow day. Reviews work similarly, with reviews getting added to the calendar as I finish the ARC. If I find that I am reading more ARCs than the designated review spots, I use the overflow.
This year is the first time that I’ve had the overflow days and haven’t tried to fill up every day on the calendar prior to the start of the month. I’m finding that it is allowing me much more flexibility, since I can just drop something into an open day, rather than having to adjust the entire calendar. I also removes some of the pressure to come up with enough content to fill every slot- it’s ok to have a blank space.
And as for how I choose discussion topics, it’s usually just things I’m thinking about or topics that come up in the book community.
