Jonte Williamson has a dream: become Nashville’s next big star. Finding herself unexpectedly homeless hot off the plane wasn’t part of her grand plan. Cash Bellini is a simple man: he loves his twin sister, Dolly, hates country music, and stays far away from anything more complicated than that. When Jonte stumbles into Cash’s bar, helping out the homeless country music wannabe is the last thing on his agenda. Pity someone forgot to send the…

This is the story of Jonte and Cash.

Jonte comes to America from Australia to make enter into a country music competition. Cash owns a rock bar in Nashville and hates country music. All the makings for a great pairing!

I enjoyed the cast of characters, though would have liked to dive a little deeper into Dolly, Cash’s twin sister and Tanner, Cash’s best friend. But then again, I always want to dive deeper into side characters. (Thankfully book 2 is about Dolly and Tanner).

The other characters, Dean and Seb rounded out the cast. I really liked Dean’s relationship with Jonte, though I had questions about his relationship with Dolly, but it was what it was. I like Seb as a character, but I didn’t necessarily like the plot line surrounding him.

Cash has a lot of issues, which I think were covered really well. Jonte’s issues were less explored and I felt like all of the blame was laid on Cash. To be fair, he deserved to carry the blame, but Jonte played a part in some of the later drama between them. And we never really get a lot of her backstory

Ultimately this is a romance, and we get our HEA. There was a lot of fun, a bit of angst, and an exploration of past trauma. I enjoyed the story overall and am looking forward to reading book 2.
