My Favorite Tropes

I had this brilliant idea to share some of my favorite tropes. I love most tropes, but narrowed it down to my top 5.  Here we go!

Enemies to Lovers

I have always been a sucker for a rivals to lovers storyline. A lot of that animosity always seems to be sexual tension, which usually pays off pretty well for all concerned. But, while I love rivals/enemies to lovers, I’m not a fan of bullies or toxic, cruel relationships.

Friends to Lovers

Even better, is when friends realize that they are in love with each other. I firmly believe that men and women can be friends without any sexual or romantic feelings, but some friends are just meant to be in love and haven’t figured it out yet.

Fake Dating

Fake dating is the best, and I don’t think it’s the forced proximity, though that helps. I think fake dating relationships force you to get to know the other person really fast without expectations. It can bring a lot to the surface that you wouldn’t normally share with a perspective partner and creates an environment to grow those feelings.

Second Chance

This trope can go either way, because it all depends on why the couple split in the first place. If it’s cheating or abuse or cruelty, then no, no second chances. But if the split came from a misunderstanding, a relocation (work, school), or grief, then a second chance can definitely be in the cards.

Found Family

There is nothing better than finding the people who are truly meant to be in your lives, those who take care of you and love you no matter what. They might be related to you by blood, but a lot of the time they aren’t.
