Reading Slumps
People have reading slumps for a lot of reasons, mine seem to come from around mental health issues or extreme business.
In the past, when I’ve had stressful jobs that kept me working long hours, I’ve found it hard to find the time to read. It would take me forever to get through a book. And since I can never just read one book at a time, it took even longer.
Lately, the business aspect has not been an issue, and it’s all been down to mental health. My worst reading slump came during the height of the pandemic. I went from reading between 100-135 books per year to reading only 39 books in 2021 and 62 in 2022. So I’m still coming out of that major slump now, but was on track to get closer to my usual numbers until this month.
I am hoping that my current slump will be short lived, but I barely read anything last week and am not showing any signs of that changing so far this week. Which means I don’t have reviews to post and my currently reading list remains the same, and my monthly reading recap is small; so it affects my blogging as well.
