I love receiving digital reader copies and providing reviews. But I tend to over estimate how quickly I will get through them.

I started out strong this year, getting through several DRCs and posting multiple reviews. And then I started stumbling over slow books that hold up my reading. While I am easily able to read multiple books in other formats at the same time, I have a harder time reading multiple ebooks at one time. It’s the screen layout that makes it harder for me to switch back and forth. I may need a reader with a larger screen.

Right now, I have fallen behind on my review reading and am looking for ways to catch up. It doesn’t help when I hit a DRC that I am just not feeling, or one that is really slow paced. I’m toying with the idea of moving on from the slow reads and coming back to them later. This would give me the opportunity to get through the faster or more interesting reads.

But I feel bad because a lot of the slow reads are ones that are already long (years) overdue and I’m really trying to catch up (though you can’t really tell that by the number of DRCs I’ve been getting this year). I may need to look into a screen reader to help me get through them as well, since eye strain contributes to my slower reading of DRCs and physical books.
