In My Life:
This has actually been a pretty crazy week, so I have a bit to share, mostly work-related.
I’ve almost finished setting up the admin office for work, and it has turned out really nice. I’m still waiting for a bookcase and our big printer to arrive. I think a few more decorative pieces would be nice as well, like some big plants that could hide the visible cords hanging down. And a new window decal and plexi sign are on their way as well.
I finally got to meet my mentor in person this week. We’ve been working together since November, but between the pandemic and the fact that we live in different parts of Oregon, we had yet to meet in person. She came down to see the new offices.
In other work news, remember that promotion that I was up for but didn’t get? Well, I don’t know that I mentioned it here, but I took the feedback I was given after my interview and crafted a plan for what I would have done if I had gotten the position and forwarded it to the Director for feedback. This was right after I didn’t get the position and I hadn’t heard anything, so I figured they just didn’t have time to follow up with me on it at the moment. Fast forward to this week, the Director asked to meet with me on Thursday to discuss my plan, and told me she was really impressed with both my plan, and the fact that I had put it together and forwarded it in such a professional matter. She said based on my plan, I was back under consideration for the position. And on Friday she called to offer it to me! She will be at my office on Monday to discuss things in detail, but essentially I will be the Assistant Director for my office starting in July. I am blown away because this was not the outcome I expected to get, but I am really excited about the new position.
And now I have another office to set up lol.
The only other item of real note this week (not that all of that wasn’t enough!) is that I finally got my first vaccine shot on Friday (Moderna). Thankfully I haven’t really had any side effects so far- just a sore arm, but it’s no worse than a tetanus shot. I know a lot of people have worse reactions to the second shot, but I’m hoping that I won’t be one of them.

Thank you! I was so surprised that things turned around the way they did.
That is really a smart thing to do. I am so happy you got what you deserved, Congrats on the new office and the promotion
Congrats on the promotion! I love organizing and setting up in a new place. And yay for your vaccine without bad side effects.

Congratulations on the promotion — and on getting your first vaccine shot! My husband and I got the Moderna, too. I had very little reaction to the second shot, but he had a fever for about 24 hours.
Love the quote at the bottom of your post. That pesky life stuff, always interrupting my reading!
Ok that is AWESOME about the promotion! What a great story to share and encourage others to go after what they want! I love it. Glad you got your first shot! I actually felt like crap after the first, felt fine after the second. But my husband was the opposite. I wonder if it depends on the manufacturer becuase I got the Pfizer and he got the Moderna. I hope you don’t have any reactions!
Thank you! I had a bit of a sore arm for a couple of days and then developed a rash that lasted about a week, but that was really it. Hopefully the second shot will be more of the same.
The way you got that promotion is really impressive!!! Congratulations!
