Top Ten Tuesday~ More Reading Goals
I’ll be joining Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl for Top Ten Tuesday again this year.
This week’s topic is: Goals for 2026. I’ve shared most of my goals already, but here are some additional goals that I either haven’t mentioned or were briefly highlighted on my BINGO Boards.
New-to-Me Authors
Every year, I try to find new-to-me authors to explore. I have a goal of 10 new-to-me authors for my reading BINGO board, but my real goal is 100 new-to-me authors this year.
Books Set in Central/South America
Last year was the first year that I tracked the locations of the books I read. I found that there where some holes in my book choices, including books taking place in Central and South America, so this year I plan to read at least 5 books that take place in countries located in Central or South America.
Books in Translation
While I have a few authors I read regularly in translation, I’ve never focused on translated works before. This year I have a goal to read at least 5 books that have been translated into English from another language. I am hoping to get a few new authors out of this experience as well.
Books Outside My Usual Genres
I’ve always read from a variety of genres, but I still have favorites that I stick to most frequently (Romance & Fantasy). One of my goals is to read at least 5 books from genres outside my norm. I have a few different titles in mind.
Books Set in Africa
As with Central and South America above, I noticed a severe lack of books set in countries in Africa on my list, so this year I am aiming to read at least 5 books set in African countries.
Finished Series
I am a big fan of series, especially long ones. This means I have a lot of different series in progress at any given time. Over the last couple of years, I have made an effort to finish more series than I start each year. This year my goal is to finish at least 20 series. This includes going back to all of the series that I started some time ago and have just been sitting there, partially completed for a while.
Read-a-Thons
This year I want to find some new read-a-thons to participate in. I always do the 3 Dewey’s Read-a-thon events, but this year my goal is to do 5 total read-a-thons, so I need to find at least 2 more.
Start New Series
While I want to finish a lot of series this year, I also want to start some new series and get through them as well. My goal is to start 15 new series this year.
Nonfiction
Fiction is by far my favorite, but I do enjoy reading some nonfiction (especially memoirs). This year, I want to read 12 nonfiction books.
Super Stretch Goal
My reading goal for this year is 200 books, with a stretch goal of 250 books. But my super stretch goal is 365 books. I want to average finishing a book each day this year.

I like how you plan to expand your comfort zone
Thanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with your goals
I’d almost forgotten about Dewey’s readathons, I really haven’t been in the right place to participate for a couple of years. I mostly stick to challenges/readathons on Litsy at the moment, and the readathons run by the Bookly app. But maybe I should branch back out!
I got into non-fiction more and more over the last years, it can be surprisingly fun/soothing. Hope you find some good ones, and good luck with these goals!
I should read more books from Africa and South America as well.
Since I’ve started tracking my bookish travels, I’ve been surprised to learn I rarely go anywhere outside of North America and Europe (especially the UK). It’s something I’ve slowly been working on changing.
Excellent goals! I managed to include a few books from Africa last year, but books from Latin America are severely lacking. I love tracking my books on a map. It encourages me to expand my reading selections.
I like the idea of tracking book locations on a map.
Good luck! I miss doing read-a-thons. Most of them happen on weekends, and I work on weekends. 🙁
I used to work weekends all the time and miss read-a-thons as well.
Finishing more series than you start is a great goal, and one I should definitely adopt for myself! I’m in the middle of a ton of series. Hopefully, I can at least make progress in some of them this year. Good luck with all of your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I’m hoping to read some translated books too this year. 200 books (in my opinion) is a huge goal, but I’m sure you’ll smash it! I hope you achieve all your goals 😊
