Weekly Recap~ 9/9/23
This is the post where I recap what I’ve been doing throughout the week and share what I plan to post about next week. I will be linking up Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer and her weekly Sunday Post feature and Kathryn @ The Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
This week I am also joining Marlene @ Reading Reality for Stacking the Shelves. Due to my current circumstances, this will not be a regular addition at this time, but will pop in when I receive something new.
What Went Down This Week:
Notes from a Life:
I’m still not reading enough, at least I don’t feel like I am. I only finished one book this week. But I’m also still adjusting to my new schedule, so I know that has a lot to do with it. I think it is just a matter of really managing my own expectations. I mean, I have already met my Goodreads goal for the year, so it’s not like I’m just hanging out not reading at all. And I have started on my third reread of Red, White & Royal Blue, which pulls me away from my reading list a bit too.
Part of the problem, I think, is that I am going through a lot of old eARCs and some of them are just not holding my interest, so I kind of avoid them, or do the bare minimum when it’s their turn in the lineup. I had a whole bunch of 3-star reads in a row, then finally got 3 5-star reads and a couple of 4-star, and I was hoping things were turning around, but no… I’m back to a bunch that will be 3-star max (there are a couple of good ones in the mix as well with 4 or 5-star potential, I may just end up focusing on them).
That’s pretty much it for this week.

I hate starting a book and finding out it’s a three star read and I don’t want to continue. There are so many others to choose from. Have a good week.
Oops, forgot to leave my most recent post link.

I seem to go thru patches of reading where everything is “average” – it’s just okay or sometimes not even okay. And I dream of a 5 star read! Maybe that’s what makes me appreciate them so much more! Have a terrific week and hope you enjoy some of that stack of books!

Why is it that we feel so disappointed with ourselves if we only read one book in a week? lol I’m totally that way.
It’s hard when books are just average. We are spoiled by an abundance of amazing reads. I think what helps me is that I read so many different genres. I find I am more picky these days because there is so much I want to read. It is slower to read an okay book than a great one though. That’s sort of irony that the one I don’t enjoy as much also takes so much more time.

Ugh, it’s tough to get through a bunch of 3 stars. I hope you find a 4 star soon.

The same thing happens to me with reading. I’ll go through streaks where I’m just not enjoying my books and don’t have the motivation to read. Then I come across a 5-star book and suddenly want to read EVERYTHING.
