Weekly Update~ 9/2/23
This is the post where I recap what I’ve been doing throughout the week and share what I plan to post about next week. I will be linking up Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer and her weekly Sunday Post feature and Kathryn @ The Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
What Went Down This Week:
Notes from a Life:
So this week did not go exactly to plan. It turns out even working part-time is exhausting the first week back, and when it’s partnered with an obsession with a certain book/movie, productivity takes a dive. I did not think I was going finish any of the books on my list, though I did read RWRB twice this week. And I may finally understand the concept of a book hangover, though for me it has been more like a hyper-focused obsession. But I did break through and actually finished a book from my current stack on Friday.
I started my new job and it’s going to be very different. I’m definitely going to need donations of things like board games, art supplies and LGBTQIA+ positive books to have some things for the teens to do when they come hang out (aside from studying). Right now I have basically nothing but a PS4 console and a TV. I’ve put together a wishlist with ideas of all the things we need and will be putting together some social media posts to ask for donations over the next several of weeks. Hopefully some people I know will donate or share with more people so we can get some supplies. I’m really hoping this program will be successful, but starting from scratch is scary. Thankfully the board knows it will take some time to get things off the ground and aren’t expecting miracles right off the bat. This week I have been organizing the house and setting up the clothing closet that we will also have available. And making lots of lists. I don’t normally share my place of employment on the blog for reasons, because I am looking for donations, I’m including our website so you can check it out.
Now that I know how my new schedule affects my routine, I should be able to plan out my time better next week. I also want to take advantage of this long weekend to get a lot of reading done and to write my posts for the week so I’m not scrambling. I also need to get back to my self-care routine because it was going really well and I don’t want to lose the progress I’ve made with my mental health after getting off track this week.
And I almost forgot to mention that I am on Threads now! You can find me as @reinvented_reader.

Thank you for sharing my review. And yes part time work can be equally as exhausted when you return to it. It sounds like a rewarding job though. I hope it will take off as expected.
I hope people donate generously, it’s such a worthy cause.
I really enjoyed the Great Library series, I hope you do too.
Wishing you a great reading week
Yes – part-time work can be exhausting, too. Because often you throw more into it, mindful of your limited hours. And all the very best of luck with this project – it has lots of potential to do loads of good:). Have a great week.
It always takes a bit to get into a new job. I hope it goes well and people donate things you need.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Good luck with the new job! I’m sure you will be able to get donations. It all just takes time to build!
Sounds like an interesting job. You have so many good books on your stack. I enjoyed Geekerella but the next two including Bookish and the Beast have been lingering on my Kindle unread for a couple of years now. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
