Weekly Wrap Up~ 8/19/23
This is the post where I recap what I’ve been doing throughout the week and share what I plan to post about next week. I will be linking up Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer and her weekly Sunday Post feature and Kathryn @ The Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
What Went Down This Week:
Notes from a Life:
The heat definitely found us this week, with temps ranging from 101* to 106*. And when you don’t have air conditioning, it’s brutal. Especially when you get a rolling black out during the peak temps on the hottest day. I did not enjoy it and felt significantly less productive, everything seemed to take twice as long as normal and I was almost constantly covered in sweat. I have an indoor thermometer in my room, and it got up to 91* inside and was still high 80’s at 2am. I have issues with always being hot anyway, so I was not feeling my best this week.
There are also wildfires not too far away that are sending a ton of smoke our way. They aren’t close enough to be an evacuation threat, but definitely affecting air quality. High heat, no A/C and a lot of smoke, does not make for a very fun week. I was extremely happy when the temps dropped on Thursday to mid-90’s and then into the 80’s on Friday.
I also had an interview this week for a local LGBTQIA2S+ organization. They’re relatively new and just getting things off the ground, so the position is really more of a “jack of all trades” kind of a situation. But there’s a lot of potential there. It’s part time, but the hours are perfect and I’ll be making enough to cover groceries and everything. I got the position but don’t start until the end of the month, so that will give me time to wrap up some projects before then. I already have some ideas for what I want to do, including a library of LGBTQIA2S+ friendly books. I’ll be posting something on Instagram soon to see if I can get some books donated.

Congratulations on your new job!
The fires are terrifying, I hope they remain at a distance for you.
Wishing you a great reading week
Those condition sound absolutely horrendous! I tend to assume that when people are living with such heat that aircon is part of the furniture – but clearly that’s not so… I hope the wildfires stay away and that the coming week is more bearable. I love your reading selection, btw!!
That scares me to hear stories like that about the heat because my sister died last year from being in an apartment without AC when it was in the triple digits outside. I’m sure glad you’re ok after suffering through that heatspell.
Congrats on your new position!
