Confession~ I Like Spoilers
Where most readers are concerned about seeing spoilers for a new book that they want to read (or even a new TV show or movie), I am the complete opposite… I like to be spoiled. In fact, I often seek out spoilers.
This is not something new, I have always liked spoilers. In fact, I almost always skim ahead to see what’s going to happen. This is harder with audio books, so I look for reviews with spoilers in them to find out what I want to know. This is especially handy when it comes to series where I want to know what to expect for the characters I am so invested in (and this is why I won’t be finishing the Queen of Babble series).
In my twenties, I had a routine when I received a new book (and I got a lot of new books in those days, since I subscribed to Harlequin & Silhouette’s book programs and received all of the books in specific imprints every month). The first thing that I would do is read the blurb, then I would read the first and last paragraph for every chapter, and the last page in its entirety. I no longer do this, but I do skim through physical books when I receive them stopping to read a page every so often.
When reading physical books, I will jump ahead and skim future chapters before picking up where I left off. I do this with ebooks as well, though not as much, since skipping around on the screen isn’t as easy as with the physical book. I mentioned above that I don’t do this with audio books, but that’s mainly because I haven’t figured out an easy way to do it.
All of this does not mean that I don’t actually read the book, because I do, in it’s entirety. I just like to know what’s coming, so I’m not surprised when it happens.
