Review~ One Week Later

I’ve had a hard time putting my review together for this one, because it’s a bit different, and because I don’t want to spoil anything, but the spoilers have a huge impact on the story and my feelings for it.
This story is told from two points of view and in two different timelines, but one of the points of view is shared through a work of fiction. The timeline shift is also told through that work of fiction and through memories. Having one of the POV shared through fiction is a little interesting, because it alters it and you have to trust that it’s mostly the truth of that perspective.
Melody is the main point of view, we get both the present and the past from her perspective, so we know almost everything, just from her. But she’s carrying a lot of pain and bitterness, though not necessarily for the reason you would think. While she is trying to save her career, she is more invested in recovering from the aftermath of her week in Aruba with her mother and Beckett.
We learn Beckett’s point of view on the Aruba trip through Melody reading his novel about the trip. For the most part their memories match. They met and were instantly attracted and fell in love over the week they spent together. But the reason it fell apart was very different for both of them… and neither of them initially knows what happened to the other. And for both of them it was devastating.
This story broke me apart, but in the end there is hope and love and as will all good romance novels, a happily ever after.
The narration by Kirsten Leigh and Nick Mills was good, and I enjoyed their voices.
