Friday Memes~ 3/22/24
I talked about doing more memes again, and here we go! There are several Friday memes floating around the book blogosphere and I have decided to join back in with most of them.
First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Gilion @ Rose City Reader
How it works: Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

The Friday 56 was started by Freda @ Freda’s Voice. Freda is currently taking a break from hosting, so in the interim it is being hosted by Anne @ My Head is Full of Books.
How it works:
If I was good at the grocery store, I got a Yoo-hoo.
Even in the room I’d slept in for seventeen years, the place I knew better than anywhere else, I had to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary.
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. On February 15, 2013, Billy reintroduced the hop with Jennifer’s approval. The hop will begin on a Friday of each week and end on a Thursday of the following week. Every week, there will be a prompt with a book-related query. The aim of the blog hop is to provide bloggers with an opportunity to follow other blogs, discover new books, make friends with other bloggers, and gain new followers for their own sites.
Do you remember your first library visit? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Answer:
I don’t know if it was my first library visit or not, but I remember my first visit to the recently opened local library when I was around 6. I wanted to check out a book that was written in Spanish (I could not read Spanish at the time) and neither my mom nor the librarian would let me. It was a Babar the Elephant story (this was around 1977-ish).
Made You Up sounds like an interesting book. I like the excerpts. I imagine it would be very difficult to be in Alex’s situation, not knowing what is real and not.
My memories all blend together of my early childhood so it is hard for me to distinguish at what age I was when certain memories take place, but I do have many fond memories of my time in the library. I love the memory you shared with us. I hope your mom and the librarian were able to find a copy you could read! Have a great weekend!
Love the excerpts. Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: BOOKISH FRIDAY
When I was a teen librarian I had my sites on this book and then I forgot all about it. What do you think? Is it good these years after it was published? Should I add it back onto my TBR?
