I’m jumping back into memes this year, because I always had a lot of fun with them before I tried to get all serious. Each Friday I will be linking up with a few different memes. Here we go:

 

First up is Book Beginnings on Fridays, hosted by Rose City Reader and First Line Friday hosted by Reading is My Superpower 

How it works:  Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

How it works:

Grab a book, any book
*Turn to Page 56 or 56% in your Ereader

I will be using the same book each week for both of these prompts. This week’s book is: 9 Days & 9 Nights by Katie Cotugno.

First Line:

Ian tells me he loves me for the first time in front of an enormous display of medieval torture devices, halfway through a tour of the Tower of London on the second morning of our trip.

I shut the bathroom door and turn the water on, then scroll through the favorites on my phone until I find the number for Imogen’s international cell.

About Book Blogger Hop:
The first iteration of the Book Blogger Hop, which was started in March 2010 by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books, ended on December 31, 2012. What’s the fastest or slowest you’ve ever finished a book?

My Answer:

The fastest I have finished a book is within a few hours. This is with shorter books like novellas or children’s early chapter books. The slowest is over a year, usually with nonfiction that’s really dense. The format also plays a huge role in the speed I finish books. Physical books take the longest for me to read right now, due to vision issues, so they take an average of a month or more to finish, depending on length. Next is e-books, vision issues are still a factor, but I can increase the font size, so they take an average of a few weeks. Finally, audio books are my fastest books. Depending on the length of the book, I can finish it within a day or three..
