The Allure of Boarding School Stories

When it comes to Young Adult books, one of my favorite plot points is boarding schools. I love the comradery and found family that usually accompanies the boarding school setting. And then there’s the mischief and mayhem that the students usually find along the way.

Boarding schools make such a great setting because it gives a reason for not having parents to stop the children or teens from all of the mischief they get into. Teachers don’t have the same connection to the kids and tend to not pay as close attention, leaving plenty of space for them to sneak out at night, form secret organizations, solve crimes, or just fall in love.

Stand-alone boarding school books are fun, but series books bring deeper opportunities for continuing storylines. I love them both.
