The Future

I haven’t been doing a lot of planning for the future lately. I had some big future plans at the start of the year, but unexpected circumstances and the things that have been playing out on the world stage make me hesitant to make any big plans for the years ahead. Who knows what the world is going to bring.

But that doesn’t mean that I’ve given up on planning ahead for anything. I mean, that is a core personality trait for me, so I can’t lose it entirely. I’m just approaching things on a smaller scale. Instead of broadly planning out goals and plans for the next 5-10 years, I’m looking at just the next year. Instead of making more specific plans for the next year, I’m looking at a month at a time. And detailed planning is only a week in advance at the most right now.

I have no trips planned out in advance right now. All of the travel plans that I was originally making have been scrapped. My last trip was a year ago, but after needing to cancel reservations for all 4 trips that were planned for 2023, I’ve learned to not plan so far ahead.

All of this doesn’t mean that I don’t still have a bucket list of things that I hope to do in my life, it just means that I’m taking things one year, one month, one week, one day, even one hour at a time for now. The future is still out there, but it’s a giant question mark right now.
