Weekly Update~ 8/26/23
This is the post where I recap what I’ve been doing throughout the week and share what I plan to post about next week. I will be linking up Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer and her weekly Sunday Post feature and Kathryn @ The Book Date for It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
What Went Down This Week:
Notes from a Life:
I finally had a chance to watch Red, White & Royal Blue this week (more than once) and I loved it! I don’t always love adaptations, but they did a good job with this one. There are some definite plot shifts and some significant characters missing, but they kept the heart of the story. There have been a few movies over the course of my life that have made a huge and immediate impact and I feel the need to watch them over and over again. This is one of those movies for me.
This week has been a little rough because I’m detoxing from caffeine. I don’t drink coffee, but I drink soda every day, and now that I’ve run out of soda, I’ll be waiting until my first paycheck until I can buy it again. This means I’ve been headachy and exhausted most of the week, so my productivity is a bit off- I’ve been doing the bare minimum of everything, including reading. Thankfully heat has not been a factor though, it’s been in the 80’s, low 90’s most of the week. It doesn’t help that I think I’ve caught a summer cold as well.
All that lack of productivity and watching of RW&RB means that, while I did my minimum reading each day, I didn’t do any extra reading or finish anything this week, so my reading lists haven’t changed below. Again, that means I should finish several reads next week though. Unfortunately 2 of my library books weren’t able to be renewed and I have to wait through holds for them again before I can finish them. That doesn’t happen too often, but every once in a while I’m not able to finish a book quick enough and I have to wait in the middle of reading it.
That’s pretty much it this week. New job starts Tuesday.

Good luck with the new job! Hopefully, your caffeine withdrawal will be better by then.
Ooof a detox is no fun! When I don’t have enough time in the morning and delay my first coffee to when I’m at my desk, I tend to be tired and headachey by the time I get there, so sending thoughts your way! And I just read ‘Shadow of Night’ and absolutely loved it, even though it had so much background info and things happening. Only I’ve realized I don’t have the third book yet, so I’m waiting for the next paycheck before I get that one for myself! I hope you have a lovely week 🙂

I hear that tea also has a lot of caffeine. So I used to drink decaf tea.
Have a good week.

Ugh, detoxing from caffeine is the hardest. I do not envy you at all, I just hope you get some relief soon. Good luck on your new job this week.
I hope your new work goes well. I drink one soda a day. Sometimes I substitute tea but I also am not a coffee drinker. I use the library’s feature to deliver later if I can’t read a book right away. It keeps me at the top of the list until I can get to it. Luckily most of my library reads are older titles and I can get them quickly.

I don’t drink coffee either but I drink far too much Pepsi Max to get my caffeine hit
Wishing you a great day on Tuesday!
Have a wonderful week
Oh lord…life without caffeine AND starting a new job without it? You are one tough cookie!
Hope all is going well!
