When I first started using Net Galley, I went kind of crazy, especially with “Read Now” titles. I also overestimated how quickly I could read a multitude of DRC’s. Then, there was also life… and mine has been a bit on the crazy side for the last several years. Needless to say, I ended up with a huge backlog of titles that I received for review that have not, in fact, been read or reviewed. Some of these are years overdue.

Now, my personal belief is that if I requested the book for review, I need to read it and review it. This is why a lot of reviews that you see me posting are for books published as far back as 2016. Over the last year or so, I have made a more concerted effort to get through a lot of these overdue reviews. I raised my feedback ratio from 38% to 50%, then started participating in blog tours and requesting DRC’s again, so I’ve dropped to 48% currently. Consider they recommend an 80% ratio, I have a long ways to go.

I wanted to also clarify that all of my review copies are DRC (Digital Review Copy) through Net Galley (1 exception from Edelweiss). I have only received one physical ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) from a publisher for review (they also provided a DRC) and have completed that review. I am of course open to receiving physical ARCs from publishers/authors if they want to send any my way, I’ve just never been able to get them.

Anyway, I currently have 170 DRCs awaiting review (as of this writing). Here is a breakdown based on publication year.

I will continue to work on getting through the backlog of overdue reviews, but will be putting my primary focus on the new DRCs I receive to prevent further backlog. I was able to publish 7 reviews in January and hope to publish a total of 7 in February as well.
